The Medical Futures Innovation Awards is the world's most prestigious fora and catalyst for innovation in healthcare and lifesciences.
On Monday 6th June 2011 at Old Billingsgate, central London took place Europe's largest showcase of early staged healthcare innovation, hosted by BBC Executive Producer, Dr Michael Mosley - more than 30 brilliant and exciting examples of new technologies, therapies and ways to deliver care in the NHS and around the world were on display. Examples included a pair of glasses that use water to correct eyesight without the need for an optician; a new therapy for cancer from frog skin; and a smart new dental system to reduce the pain of injection when visiting the dentist! The event was attended by anyone who is anyone in healthcare. Its purpose - to connect the best ideas with the money and people to make those ideas happen. Later in the evening, Rory Bremner and Emmas Samms hosted a black tie, invitation-only ceremony attended by a star studded guest list including Presidents of the medical Royal Colleges, Senior Industry Executives, and members of the investment and venture capital community.
